For the last week or so we have been getting storms from the central pacific. The one that came in late Saturday afternoon was the remnants of a hurricane from Hawaii. That morning I got the riverboat out of the water. The wind Saturday morning was coming out of the east, then all at once it switched and came out of the west. Started at about 20mph and then increased to about 60. We had big waves crashing into the boat, the dock and the shore and a very high tide. The canopy started to rip where Velcro attached to the frame. Ron and Kathy came down to the boat and helped us stay calm. After about 4 hours it was over and the only damage was the canopy and ended with a nice rainbow.

Halloween Crusie 2014
Kay and I arrived at the Sand Island docks on Columbus day. I "dinked" to work through the week. There were two other boats, the George Emery (Ron and Kat) and The Midnight Sun (Jerry and Laura). We had the dock to our selves. We did some hook and release of sturgeon. Folks started to arrive on Thursday and by Friday night there were 66 boats tied up to the dock. The inner most dock is "party row" where the boats were sterned in. In the past we have had around 70 boats and Ron tells me one year there were 220 boats tied up.
Jon and Cindy Bake were the official hosts and as always they did a great job, but they handed over the program to St. Helens and (can't remember the name) yacht clubs for next year. Everyone decorated their boats and I have a bright green mask in which I scared all the little witches and goblins that came by for trick or treat candy Saturday night.
Jeff and Jeannette Creagon did a zombie walk and then took the Michael Jackson's song Thriller and choreographed the dance. So there were all these zombies dancing on the beach to the music with spot lights on them. It was a great production and took everyone by surprise.
Kay loves this cruise as she says its like a homecoming and family reunion. You meet up and catch up with past friends and make new ones. There were a few new folks that attended and it was always nice to see the families together on the dock. Oh Kay won 3rd place for her pumpkin carving!
Tonight, Oct. 23 I saw the most awesome sunset! We have had rain for the past 4 days with 40 mph winds and I was on the bow with a cigar and glass of scotch and was witness to the best sunset yet!!
