We had a great weekend with mom. Took mom to Long Beach WA on Saturday where they were having their annual international kite festival. Folks from all over the globe attend this and bring their kite designs. I felt like a little kid again and found myself all excited. Lots of folks, food and most of all kids with big bright eyes. Kay bought an Alpaca sweater that is really nice for $35. http://kitefestival.com/
Sunday, after church, we all went to Mount St. Helens National Monument. The last time mom was here was with her sister, Pam a few years after the volcano blew in 1980. Mom really enjoys the drive to the mountain and the presentations form the Park service and USGS. The cone in the crater was really giving off a lot of steam. We saw elk and lots of other small wildlife, but Mike, no Big Foot! We topped the day off with lunch at Patty's place, a small restaurant on the shore of the Tootle River. They had elk burgers and homemade cobblers with ice cream! http://www.fs.usda.gov/mountsthelens
Now the ASD is officially documented. This is kind of a license plate for the boat.
