This is about an 80 mile run. We also have a small portion of the run open
to the Pacific Ocean through Millbrooke Sound.
But we had to get underway. With the anchor half way up when the wash down pump stopped working. This pump allows us to wash the anchor and chain as it comes up to keep the stinking mud out of the anchor locker. Oh well new part at Prince Rupert.
We also had an escort, sort of out of Shearwater as the U.S.C.G. Cutter Terrapin. They soon passed us in their wake. Our speed was 8-9 kts so this would also be an 8 hour run.

As soon as we passed the Boulder Head light house we
turned NW and immediately felt the ocean swells on our port beam. 4 footer about 4 seconds apart, which made
things a little rolling. About 6 miles
more we turned north and the swells became following. No worries, this is easy.
What has surprised Kay and I is we have not seen any
whales, seals or any real bird life.
Then as we entered Jane passage, by Klemtu, we did see a few dolphins. The run up Princess Royal Reach was cold and rainy,
with no boat traffic all day.
As we passed Green Inlet and almost to Khutze I
ask one boat that was heading south how
Khutze looked. He responded we should
stay in Butedale. Then I hear a very scratchy voice! Alaskan Sea-Duction, this is Pairadice! Who is following who here? John told me they were in Khutze and there
was lots of room if I didn’t mind being around a bunch of Norties. As I came around the corner, Sea Badger also
called me.
This would be the first time I have anchored in a
small crowd, but with John and Bill coaching me, I set the anchor on the slope
in front of a 62ft Nordhaven. There is
no wind here so a long scope isn’t needed.
Khutze is such a beautiful place. Reminds me of Alaska. Now if the rain would only stop. We put out some crab pots and wow did we hit the jackpot! Kay went kayaking back up the river and got ate up by bugs.
Everyone came over to ASD and we had fresh crab and a “few” drinks for dinner. Feels like family.

One thing we have found while up here are the beautiful waterfalls. No two are the same. This is in Khutze Inlet |
