Chapter 17 Pruth Bay to Shearwater

We were not in a hurry today.  Calm waters of the inside passage and only 50 miles. It was a quit run, almost boring.  We have yet to see any whales.  We met no other boats.  Not an much of an exciting day, but what the heck we were on the water and cruising the inside passage! No whales, seals not even many birds!  Have we entered an abyss where there is no life?

Our destination is Bella Bella/Shearwater.  A nice stop, however when I got into cell range (no cell for the past 2 days) I called the marina and they told me they were all full up.  The dock was packed with Nordhavn yachts! This sucks!

At the end of the bay is a nice anchorage in about 55 feet.  So we are wondering through the anchorage where there are several boats and the radio blared out, "Alaskan Sea-Duction this is Pairadice!"  I drove right by him as he was waving and we were so concentrated on anchoring we blew right by him!  Sea Badger was here too!  Wow the family back together.  We set in 60 feet with 260 feet of chain out.  They all came over for fish tacos (sea bass we caught)!  Had a great time.  We will spend at least 2 nights here before pressing on.  Today is boat cleaning day.

Tomorrow and the next day will be long runs of 80-90 miles each.  But I am looking forward to as we will be doing the "trench!" Granville Channel....

Alaska is close!  I can smell it....................
